Mark Matthews was raised in Glendale, California and graduated from the Anderson School of Business at University of California, Los Angeles. Mark’s involvement in the Sonoma County Repertory Theater began with his daughter, Chelsea, who has been connected with The Rep’s Young Actors Conservatory for the past six years, first as a student and now a Teaching Assistant during the summer.
During his active business career, Mark created, managed and operated businesses in which he has had a principal ownership. As a volunteer, Mark served on the Board of Directors of the MS Society of Northern California and on the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation, Sonoma County.
Mark was co-founder and president of Hallmark Ventures, Inc., a real estate development and asset management company. Some of the projects in which Hallmark played a key role include the Phoenix Airport Hilton, Marriott’s Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite and Fountaingrove Golf and Country Club.
Prior to Hallmark Ventures, Inc., Mark was co-founder and president of Communications Resources, Inc. (CRI), a sales promotion and marketing company in Costa Mesa, California. Through CRI, Mark developed major promotions and marketing programs for Coppertone, Nissan Corp., Suzuki Motors Corp., Wham-O Corp., and Marriott.
Mark’s vision of Sonoma County Repertory Theater is that it is in the process of becoming “the Ashland of the North Bay”!
