Doug Jayne, Member

Doug Jayne started working in the record business in 1974, and later moved to Santa Rosa where he opened The Last Record Store in 1983. The LRS is a landmark, beginning with its long-term location in downtown Fourth Street Location to its current home on Mendocino Avenue near Santa Rosa Junior College. Doug is a Sonoma County community icon through his involvement in music, theater and on-the-air work at the local National Public Radio (NPR) station, KRCB.

In 1998, Doug began working with Sonoma County Repertory Theater, assisting with music and sound effects. He has worked on some of the Rep’s major productions, most recently, putting together the music for Romeo and Juliet, part of the 2004 Sebastopol Shakespeare Festival. Doug has been a big fan and supporter of the Rep.

Doug began working at KRCB in 1995. He currently hosts "Connections," a free form FM radio program every Wednesday night from 8 to 10 p.m.

He formed Jackalope Records in 1996, which has released several CD's, primarily of Sonoma County musicians and two fundraising compilation CD’s for KRCB.

Doug has been involved in several musical groups, including Stupid White People (with partner Dean Wilson), Loser Friendly, and currently Laughing Gravy, an alternative country band. Doug's first CD is "t Looks Like She's Going on a Trip," and features some great musicians including the great Charlie Musselwhite on harmonica.

Doug has been involved in various community and fundraising projects. He and his wife, Barrett Jayne, have been married 10 years. Doug has three sons, Ethan Jayne, 17, a musician; Rylan Jayne, 21, in the U.S. Navy; and Dan McMahon, 28, a college graduate currently working in San Francisco.
